Dimensions and clearance

W82 × D82 × H84cm. The chair reclines, so the measurement that actually decides placement is the clearance behind it — allow around 110cm from the back of the shell to the wall. This is the detail most people miss, and it is the difference between a chair that works and one that cannot be used properly.

When the chair alone is the right call

Buy the chair on its own if it is going into a room where it will mostly be looked at and occasionally sat in — a study, an office corner, a formal living room. The reclined seat is comfortable without a footstool for shorter sessions, and you save both £200 and roughly 60cm of floor depth.

If it is going into a reading corner or in front of a television, buy the set instead. The chair was designed around the pair, and the recline angle only fully makes sense with your legs supported.

Wood and leather

Walnut is the most forgiving finish and the easiest to match to existing furniture. Rosewood is darker with stronger figuring and gives the most traditional look against black leather. Italian aniline leather is dyed through rather than surface-coated, so it develops a patina with use — black and brown hide marks best.
