The E1027 adjustable side table is a natural companion for an Eames style lounge chair. Its cantilevered chrome frame lets the 50 cm glass top sit right at the chair's side, and because the height adjusts up to 70 cm, your coffee and book stay within arm's reach of the 42 cm seat without a second piece of furniture crowding the floor.
Why it works
An Eames style lounge chair is low, wide and reclined: our listing gives a 42 cm seat height inside an 82 × 82 cm footprint. A conventional side table either sits too low to reach from the recline or has to stand far enough out to clear the chair's arm. The E1027 adjustable side table fixes that with a cantilever: the top hangs off one side of the frame, so it can reach in towards you.
Eileen Gray designed the original in 1927 for her house E-1027, reportedly so a tray could hover over a bed. It is now one of her best-known designs.

How to place it
- Stand it on the side of your dominant hand, frame towards the wall, top reaching towards the chair.
- Set the top a little above the armrest so a mug clears the arm as you reach.
- Leave the chair room to swivel; the shell turns a full 360°.
The honest limitation: a 50 cm glass top holds a drink and a book comfortably. It will not take a lamp, a stack of magazines and a tray all at once. If you want a lamp beside the chair too, a wider solid table may serve you better.
